9-Year-Old Finds Dead Woman In Hudson River In Haverstraw
HAVERSTRAW, NY (CBSNewYork/AP) - Police say a body of a woman was found in the Hudson River in a popular park in Rockland County.
The Journal News reports that a 9-year-old girl playing in Emeline Park in Haverstraw discovered the body about five feet from shore around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Journal News reports that the woman was identified as 66-year-old Joanne DeLoatch.
Police say the body was fully clothed.
"There is nothing suspicious at this time," Haverstraw Police Chief Charles Miller told the paper. "We're waiting for the results of the autopsy on the cause."
Emeline Park overlooks Haverstraw Bay, the widest expanse of the Hudson River. It is popular with families on the weekends.
