73-Year-Old Woman Robbed, Police Searching For Suspect

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a man who tried to steal an elderly woman's purse on the Upper East Side Friday evening.

Police say that just after 7:30 p.m., a 73-year-old female was entering an SUV at the corner of Lexington Avenue and East 103rd Street when an unidentified male approached her and attempted to remove her purse by force.

The victim resisted and was knocked to the ground before the unidentified male fled on foot, entering the subway nearby according to police.

The victim, who did not give up her purse, suffered abrasions to her wrists, hands, and knees, and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Police describe the male as 6'0"-6'2", wearing a dark colored hooded jacket and scarf, with dark pants and black sneakers with white soles.
