6 NYC Restaurants To Dine Out On Christmas Day

Who says Christmas means you have to slave away the day to create an elaborate meal? Make reservations to dine out on Christmas Day at one of these New York City restaurants. Go all out with an Italian Feast of The Seven Fishes or keep the day casual with German bar fare to keep your whole family in the holiday spirit. By Sarah Shaker.

For the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes, Sirio Ristorante at The Pierre will be offering this Italian feast on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This 4-course prix fixe for $95 per guest includes pan seared sardines with black trumpet mushrooms and Parmesan foam and seared wild striped bass with green peas and cuttlefish sauce. The dishes show off the simple elegance that the Maccioni family is famous for and the command of seasonal ingredients and innovative recipes that Chef Massimo Bebber brings to the table.

Give Christmas a German spin at Loreley with an affordable three-course menu and a drink for just $25. Available both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the menu features a choice of salad or one of three soups, including a hearty Potato Soup with smoked bacon and croutons, followed by German favorites like Sauerbraten beef with potato dumplings, braised red cabbage, Goulasch with spaetzle or Potato Pancakes (fish or vegetarian option) and Apple Strudel for dessert. Each diner also gets a half-liter of beer or a glass of Gluhwein, traditional mulled wine.

Is Chinese takeout your family's tradition during the holidays? Dial in for reservations this year instead at Fatty Crab for their "No. 1 Fatty" Chinese American Menu, available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A la carte items will include Steamed Buns (pork or veggie), Pork Spare Ribs, Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoon, Wonton Soup, Pork or Veggie Lo Mein, Pork or Veggie Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, General Tso's Chicken, Whole Fried Snapper w/ garlic sauce, Chili Crab, Stir Fried Chinese Broccoli and white rice.

The newly opened Jade Hotel in Greenwich Village has a pre-fixe special menu at their speakeasy inspired restaurant, Grape & Vine, for Christmas. This first annual feast offers a delectable menu at $55 per person. Dishes include Free Range Virginia Stuffed Quail, Pan Roasted John Dory and Pan Roasted Rack of American Lamb.

For those spending the holidays out East with their family, Topping Rose House is offering a seasonal winter a la carte menu with several holiday editions for Christmas. Chef Tom Colicchio's seasonal menu will include Duck Terrine with cranberry, apple and ruby streaks mustard, Prime Rib with spinach, popovers and Béarnaise sauce and an assortment of desserts such as Pecan Pie, Brioche Doughnuts and Chocolate Bread Pudding.

Uncle Jack's, owned by Food Network's "Restaurant Stakeout" host Willie Degel, will be serving their famous steaks at both their Midtown and Westside locations on December 25. Menu items will include Jack's Lobster Bisque, Organic Spinach Salad and Grilled Filet Mignon.
