6 Injured After 2 Boats Collided In Great South Bay
BABYLON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Four adults and two children were hurt after their pleasure craft was struck by another boat on Long Island early Friday morning, the coast guard says.
The accident happened around 3:15 a.m. in Great South Bay near Captree Island.
Petty Officer Thomas McKenzie says a 22-foot pleasure craft with two people on board struck a 25-foot motor boat craft.
A Coast Guard rescue boat from Fire Island responded.
McKenzie says six people -- adults and children -- on the larger vessell suffered non-life threatening injuries.
He says Suffolk County police charged the owner-operator of the smaller boat with boating while intoxicated.
