Former Mayor Koch Stoked About His Bridge
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- New York City's former mayor is thrilled with the proposal to rename the 59th Street Bridge for him.

The bridge inspired Simon and Garfunkel's "59th Street Bridge" song, but now it could inspire others as the "Ed Koch Bridge."
"I had nothing to do with it. I want to make that clear—I was shocked," Koch said.
Although he was shocked, he still loved the idea.
Koch especially liked that the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel is to be renamed the Gov. Hugh Carey Tunnel at the same time because he worked so closely with Carey.
"To have the honor, and he have the honor of having these magnificent structures named for us at the same time made me feel particularly good," Koch said.
