5 Women Who Have Been Killin' It This Summer
By: Maria Perez
Women's sports are often, if not, always over shadowed by trivial men's sporting news. This summer has been big in women's sports and just because no one's put on their Instagram, "I'm coming home" doesn't mean they should be overlooked.
Here five women who have been absolutely killin' the game this summer:
5. WTA's Caroline Wozniacki
Better known as Rory McIlroy's ex-girlfriend, not that she should be because just hours before Rory took the British Open, Caroline clinched her first WTA title of the year with the Istanbul Cup. I'm sure she drank something classier than Jägermeister out of her cup too.
4. Australian Swimmers Cate Cambell, Emma McKeon, Melanie Schlanger and Bronte Campbell
The Aussie swimmers beat what was thought to be an impossible world record in the 4 x 100m Freestyle at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games with three minutes, 30.98 seconds.
3. WNBA's Chiney Ogwumike and Nneka Ogwumike
As if two siblings playing in the WNBA wasn't impressive enough, they are now making history with being the first sisters to be playing in the WNBA All-Star Game together, even the Plumlee brothers haven't done that. I already forsee an Ogwumike sisters reality show and I don't hate it.
2. America Ninja Warrior's Kacy Catanzaro
The 5-feet-tall, 100 lb. New Jersey Native made the internet explode after her amazing run through the difficult course on America Ninja Warrior. #MightyKacy became the first woman on the show to qualify to the finals in Las Vegas. If I was a guy in the finals I would be shaking in my boots knowing Kacy could win it all.
1. LPGA Lucy Li
This sixth grader has been making her rounds in the news outlets this summer for being only eleven-years-old but the stories haven't been doing her as much justice as they should. For starters she puts John Daly to shame with her outfits. Cool pants Daly, but I'm dripping in swag from head to toe. Not only does she radiate coolness with her attire but her attitude as well, just look at her casually eating an ice pop while speaking to the press. #Baller is right.
