In Sagaponack, the new owners of a whopping $44 million mansion have asked the village board for permission to tear the 6,165-square-foot home down and start all over again.
The existing Hamptons home once rented for $900,000 a summer.
Newsday reports that, last year, former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine's ex-wife, Joanne Brown, sold the property, which includes a three-car garage, swimming pool, and tennis court for a reported $43.5 million.
The new owner, a corporation called DAMA LLC, wants a home that is about twice the size and wants it to have octagon windows to see the sunset.
WCBS 880's Sophia Hall is told that the new home would resemble President Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.
The new home would be 11,268-square-feet in size.
The village approved the demolition, but so far no permits have been issued for new construction.
