40-Year-Old Man Beaten To Death By Pair Of Assailants In The Bronx, Cops Say
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 40-year-old man is dead after police say a pair of assailants attacked him in the Bronx early Saturday morning.
Police say Pedro Adorno was in the Parkchester section when he was approached by the two men around 4:30 a.m.
As CBS2's Erin Logan reported, surveillance video shows the men talking with Adorno just around the corner, in front of a restaurant on Westchester Avenue. Then, you can see the men follow Adorno down Taylor Avenue. That's when they started hitting him. At one point, he falls and gets back up, falling again. The attack continues until the men take off.
The Bronx resident sustained lacerations to his face and a contusion to his face. He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi where he was pronounced dead.
Police sources say the men were likely trying to rob the 40-year-old victim.
Royal Epps lives right across the street from where the deadly attack happened. He told Logan he didn't hear anything unusual.
"I just woke up to police barricades and police tape," he said.
He, along with other neighbors and business owners, did not expect a deadly beating to be the reason.
"Hopefully they catch the people that did this, because this guy does have a family and things of that nature. And it's wrong to murder somebody," Epps said.
"It's appalling that someone could do that to another human being," a woman added.
Police say the men they're looking for are described as follows:
Individual 1: male, Hispanic, light complexion, approximately 30-35 years of age, last seen a green shirt with camouflage sleeves, blue jeans, and dark colored boots.
Individual 2: male, Hispanic, light complexion, approximately 30-35 years of age, last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and dark colored shoes.
