4-Alarm Blaze Rips Through Row House In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A three-story wooden house was completely gutted in a four-alarm blaze in Brooklyn.
The fire broke out on Himrod Street near Wyckoff in Bushwick around 8:30 a.m. Heavy fire raged through the second and third floors of the building.
It took firefighters more than an hour to finally get it under control.
When the first unit from Ladder 144 arrived on the scene they saw a mother and her 12-year-old son hanging out a third floor window, Deputy Fire Chief Robert Strong told 1010 WINS.

Firefighters immediately jumped on a tower ladder and got the mother and her child out safely.
The woman's husband, Arnold Gonzalez, told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria he helped carry an older woman and her cat from the burning building.
"I ran downstairs because the old lady on the second floor, I know she's a handicap," Gonzalez said. "So I grabbed her, put her on my back, I took her downstairs, she had no shoes, she was barely in clothes, and there was also a cat hanging on to my left leg."
At least seven people were injured, including three firefighters and four civilians. The injuries are said to be minor.
No word on what started the blaze.
