37 Alleged Drug Dealers Indicted In Rockland County
NEW CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A series of undercover investigations has led to the indictments of 37 people in a major drug sweep in Rockland County.
The suspected drug dealers were turning the Palisades Center mall, trailer parks and downtown sections of Nyack, Suffern and Haverstraw into open-air drug markets, reports WCBS 880's Sean Adams.

The defendants, who range in age from 18 to 67, are accused of selling prescription drugs -- including Oxycodone and Percocet -- cocaine and heroin to undercover officers on nearly 50 separate occasions during the past several months, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said.
Those charged include suspects with extensive criminal records and eight suspected street gang members based in Haverstraw and Stony Point, authorities said.
The defendants have been charged with numerous counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Zugibe promises that the county's poor fiscal health will not slow down investigations.
"These arrests should serve as a warning to both drug dealers and violent criminals alike that Rockland County law enforcement, in spite of serious economic difficulties, will continue to aggressively track down those individuals who traffic in illegal and prescription drugs and seek to put them in prison for many years," Zugibe said in a statement.
