Taking a look at who's hot and who's not on the NY/NJ sports landscape:

THREE UP:

1) Blueshirts

They've won 10 of their last 11 games and are officially the hottest team in New York.

2) John Tavares

He's back, posting seven points in his last five games and looking like the perennial MVP candidate he usually is.

3) Knicks Off The Court

Phil Jackson was able to rid the Knickerbockers of J.R. Smith and Samuel Dalembert, two guys who simply needed to be dealt. It's a start.

THREE DOWN:

1) Knicks On the Court

You know things are bad when the 76ers pass you in the standings.

2) Jets' GM Search

They've reportedly been turned down by two potential candidates. It's been surprisingly tough to replace John Idzik, who by all means is replaceable.

3) Mike Piazza

The best-hitting catcher of all time was locked out of the Hall of Fame again, being passed over by the voters for inexplicable reasons. It's absurd.
