Taking a look at who's hot and who's not on the NY/NJ sports landscape:
THREE UP:
1. Islanders
Won five in a row before a loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday night. This is the hottest sports team in NY right now.
2. Optimistic Mets
They brought in Michael Cuddyer, they've got young and talented arms and they're talking playoffs. We'll believe it when we see it, but this year we may actually have reason to.
3. Melo
The Knicks may be terrible, but he's sixth in the NBA in points per game.
THREE DOWN:
1. Big Blue
Just because you play in the same stadium as the Jets, that doesn't mean you should copy them stride for stride.
2. NYC Hoops
Knicks and Nets are both struggling. The rivalry probably won't be as exciting this year.
3. Jets' QB Draft Picks
Michael Vick says the Jets would've won more games if he was the starting QB from day one. Meanwhile, everyone blamed them for "giving up" on Mark Sanchez, who subsequently came crashing back down to Earth against Green Bay on Sunday night.
