3 Up And 3 Down: Who's Hot And Who's Not In New York Sports

Taking a look at who's hot and who's not on the local sports landscape:

THREE UP:

1. First Place (!) New York Mets

They've won five games in a row and are alone (for the moment) atop the NL East. They may never lose again.

2. Yankees' Red-Hot Offense

Ninety runs in their last 10 games. That's ... a lot. They've reached double digits in the runs department four times in their past seven contests.

3. Geno Smith

Apparently he's a grown man, and a more mature, polished -- insert complimentary adjective here -- quarterback. We'll see.

THREE DOWN:

1. Nassau Coliseum

Billy Joel played the final event at the Coliseum on Tuesday night, which is ridiculous considering the final event should've been the Islanders' last hockey game in the building.

2. Giants and JPP

This relationship has apparently continued to break down. Pierre-Paul and Giants GM Jerry Reese spoke a few days ago, though it's unclear when JPP will meet with the team. You might say there's bound to be some "fireworks" as this situation goes on.

3. Muhammad Wilkerson

He sat out Tuesday with a hamstring injury and is listed as day-to-day. That shouldn't be a major issue for the Jets, but it's not something they want to see, either.
