Man killed, 3 wounded in likely gang-related shooting in Queens, NYPD says
NEW YORK -- One man died and three were wounded in what was likely a gang-related shooting Friday outside a home in Queens, according to police.
The scene on 143rd Street in South Jamaica remained active hours after police were called at around 3:15 p.m.
A 33-year-old man died at the hospital, one man was in critical condition and two were in stable condition, police said.
Police recovered a firearm and shell casings at the scene and said there has been gang activity around there.
"According to witnesses' accounts, the four victims were standing near a vehicle when they were approached by an unidentified male who begins shooting at the victims. The individual then fled on foot in an unknown direction. This incident is being investigated by our detective bureau personnel," said NYPD Assistant Chief Kevin Williams.
Police are searching for the gunman.
