3 From Phillies' Minor League Team Hurt In Staten Island Bus Crash After Crosscutters-Cyclones Game
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Three members of the Williamsport Crosscutters, a Short-Season Class A team affiliated with the Philadelphia Phillies, suffered minor injuries when their bus was involved in an accident on Staten Island.
Police say the accident happened at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, but had few other details. According to the Staten Island Advance, the bus collided with a Lexus SUV just over the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge at the intersection of Narrows Road South and Fingerboard Road.

"The bus ricocheted off the SUV and went up the guardrail, straddling the center of the guardrail (on the Fingerboard Road overpass)," one witness told the paper. "Two more feet to the left and it would have fallen down onto the Expressway. It was definitely their lucky day."
Outfielder Luis Amaro managed to jump out of a bus window to safety.
"I was on the side, it was leaning out, I was like this could slip off so we need to get out as quick as possible," Amaro told 1010 WINS' Mona Rivera.
The injured were taken to Staten Island University Hospital.
A team spokesman in Williamsport, Pa., says two pitchers and a staff member were treated and released after the crash that occurred as the team was returning to its hotel from its 7-2 win over the Brooklyn Cyclones.
The Crosscutters play in the short-season New York-Penn League. The Cyclones are the Mets' Class A affiliate.
Williamsport is scheduled to play again Wednesday afternoon at Brooklyn. The Crosscutters plan to complete their current road trip as scheduled, which also includes a stop in Batavia, before returning to Williamsport on Sunday.
