3 Elderly Customers Stabbed At NJ Burger King
SAYREVILLE, N.J. (AP/CBSNewYork) -- Three elderly people were injured when a homeless man allegedly stabbed them in unprovoked attacks at a New Jersey Burger King Saturday.
Detective Matthew Bandurski told The Star-Ledger of Newark that 58-year-old William Pittel used a six-inch steak knife to stab a 70-year-old man and two women, ages 86 and 87, at about 6:20 p.m. in Sayreville. He fled, but was soon found at a nearby pizza restaurant.
Pittel faces aggravated assault and weapons charges in Saturday's incident. He was being held Sunday at the Middlesex County Jail on $500,000 bail, and it was not known if he had retained a lawyer.
The male victim was treated at a local hospital and released late Saturday night. But the women remained hospitalized Sunday with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
