3 Charged In Suffolk County Hit-And-Run, Cover-Up
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested and charged with driving off after slamming into a pedestrian in Suffolk County Sunday, and two others were charged with trying to cover up the crime.
Kristofer Busching, 25, was arrested in connection with an accident at an unspecified location in Suffolk County on New Year's Eve, which left a pedestrian in critical condition.
Busching; his passenger, Carlo Caamano; and Busching's girlfriend, Alicia Santamaria, who was not present at the time, all allegedly tried to cover up the incident.

Busching, of North Babylon, was charged with first-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury, fifth-degree conspiracy, criminal mischief, and petit larceny, Suffolk County police said.
Caamano, 19, of Bay Shore, was charged with conspiracy, criminal mischief, petit larceny, and hindering prosecution. Santamaria, 23, was charged with hindering prosecution and conspiracy.
Police did not release further details of the accident, or what the subjects allegedly did to cover it up.
The victim of the hit-and-run remained in critical condition as of Sunday night, police said.
The suspects were all due in First District Court in Central Islip on Jan. 7.
