3 Charged In Early-Morning Robbery In Hempstead
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island have arrested three men in connection with a robbery early Sunday in Hempstead.
A 19-year-old man was walking his girlfriend to her car parked on Main Street in Hempstead around 3 a.m. Sunday, when the suspects got out of a black Dodge Charger and approached them, Nassau County police said.
One of the suspects, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and carrying a black handgun, ordered the victim to empty his pockets. The other suspect, was also wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, and the third a blue hooded sweat shirt, police said.
All three suspects covered their faces with black masks.
The suspects made off with a Samsung cell phone, a gold chain, and a Gucci belt from the victim. All three then ran back to the Charger and sped off north on Franklin Avenue.
But they didn't get far, police said. An officer responding to the area after hearing a description pulled over the Charger at Greenwich Street and Flint Avenue and arrested all three suspects.
Bashirou Ba, 19; Martin Francois, 20; and Diquan Williams, 19, were all charged with robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon, police said.
They were due for an arraignment in Nassau County First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
