Sgt. James Fitzgerald said it all began when four men stole two cars from the same home. Both the brand new vehicles, one a Mazda, the other a Nissan, had the keys inside with the doors unlocked.
But as the thieves tried to make their escape, the suspects crashed into each other.
Now, down to one stolen vehicle, the four suspects suddenly turned into Good Samaritans as they stopped at a gas station to help the stranded drivers – but that actually led to arrest of one of the burglars.
"The suspect that was apprehended, and his co-defendant, had stopped while they were in the stolen car to help a disabled motorist," Sgt. Fitzgerald said.
That suspect was the only one arrested. The three others are still on the loose.
