2 Pit Bulls Captured After Pair Of 'Very Scary' Attacks In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have captured a pair of pit bulls behind two vicious attacks on Thursday.
The incidents took place in St. Albans, Queens -- one happened at 193rd Street and 117th Road while the second attack took place on Farmers Boulevard.
The dogs apparently broke out of a backyard, according to witnesses. Those witnesses said the dogs were able to jump over fences that were 6-feet high.
The male victim on Farmers Boulevard literally ran for his life when the dogs attacked him, CBS 2's Dick Brennan reported.
"Scary, very scary," one witness said. "All I know is the guy was running and he went over the gate and the pit bulls went after him over the gate and one was on this leg, the other one was on the other leg. And they just wouldn't let go. Some people in the neighborhood came with sticks and everything trying to get the dogs off of him."
The witness told Brennan that the male victim was "all bloodied and holes was definitely in his ankles."
"They put him in the ambulance and that was it," she said.
One of the people who tried to come to the rescue said he attempted to fend off the dogs with a stick that eventually broke. He said he then jumped over a fence to get away.
The two victims, meanwhile, are in a nearby hospital in good condition, Brennan reported.
