2 Pedestrians Killed, 3 Injured In Separate Weekend Accidents In NYC
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two pedestrians were killed, and three others were injured, in four separate accidents this weekend in three boroughs of New York City.
Around 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Jose Santiago, 44, was struck by a Chrysler headed north on Nostrand Avenue at Avenue W, in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn. Police found Santiago unconscious and unresponsive at the scene, and he was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 61-year-old woman, remained at the scene, police said. The investigation continued Sunday morning.
Around an hour and a half later, a 45-year-old woman was struck and injured at Fourth Avenue and 17th Street, South Park Slope section of Brooklyn, according to a New York Daily News report. The victim was taken to Lutheran Medical Center in an unspecified condition, the newspaper reported.
A third accident left two people injured just after 11 p.m. at 141st Street and Alexander Avenue in the South Bronx, the newspaper reported. The victims – one of whom was suffering from heavy bleeding – were taken to Lincoln Medical Center in unknown conditions, the newspaper reported.
Police questioned a shirtless man with bloody pants following the accident, the newspaper reported.
Finally, a 49-year-old woman was struck and killed on 32nd Street near Fifth Avenue in Manhattan at 5:41 a.m. Sunday, police said. The woman was found unconscious and unresponsive after being struck by a Chevrolet Camaro that had been headed east on 32nd Street, according to police.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver remained at the scene following the accident.
There was no immediate word on any charges or tickets in any of the four accidents.
