2 Men Arrested In Florida In Murder Of Chelsea Floral Designer
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested two men wanted in connection with the death of a floral designer who was found bound and gagged in his Chelsea apartment.
Edwin Faulkner, 30, and Juan Carlos Martinez-Herrera, 26, were apprehended by NYPD investigators in Orlando, Fla. on Thursday morning, CBS 2 confirms.
John Robert Laubach, 57, was discovered dead in his bed just before 8 p.m. on March 2 inside his fourth floor apartment on West 22nd Street.
Investigators said Laubach was naked, gagged with a towel around his head and with hands bound with duct tape. The victim's laptop and credit cards were stolen, police sources said.
Investigators said they found video of Faulkner walking past a nearby building carrying a small briefcase that they believe contained Laubach's laptop, The New York Post reported.
Investigators ran Faulkner's criminal record, which revealed seven prior arrests, including busts for drug possession and burglary, sources said. Faulkner served almost three years in state prison for attempted grand larceny, according to police sources.
Martinez-Herrera was arrested in the past in Florida for possession of marijuana and a traffic violation, sources said.
