2 Long Island Officers Assaulted While Arresting Stabbing Suspect
WYANDANCH, N.Y. (AP) -- Police on Long Island say two officers were assaulted as they were arresting a stabbing suspect.
Christopher Brooks, of Wyandanch, was suspected of stabbing two people on June 29.
Suffolk County police officers went to arrest the 38-year-old Brooks on Sunday morning after a 911 caller reported spotting him.
According to the police, Brooks fled on foot when the officers arrived and was apprehended a few blocks away.
Police say Brooks resisted arrest by throwing an officer to the ground and kicking and punching the officer. They say that after being handcuffed he head-butted another officer.
The two officers and Brooks were all treated for their injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.
Brooks is being held pending arraignment Monday. No information on a lawyer was immediately available.
