2 Hurt After Minor Train Derailment In Staten Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two people were hurt when a train derailed Thursday morning at the Tottenville station of the Staten Island Railway.
It happened around 6:36 a.m. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the train went off the tracks when it hit a bumping block at the station.
MTA spokeswoman Amanda Kwan said one set of wheels on the first car went off the rails.

Two people, the train engineer and a conductor, suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. Kwan said they were the only ones on the train at the time of the derailment.
"There were no customers. The train was just going into service, so there were no customers on board," she said.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
Because of the derailment, the MTA says there is no Staten Island Railway service between Pleasant Plains and Tottenville in both directions.
As an alternative, customers are advised to use the S78 to St George Terminal. Shuttle bus service is also operating between Pleasant Plains and Tottenville in both directions.
The MTA says commuters should allow for additional travel time.
