Bronx Man Faces Murder Charges In Death Of Man Found In Fire With Stab Wounds To The Neck
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One man is dead, and another person was injured, after a fire in the Bronx Saturday morning that has been deemed suspicious.
The fire broke out around 6 a.m. Saturday at 2247 Webster Ave. in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx, according to the FDNY.
Residents began screaming, as smoke poured out from under an apartment door. It was an all-hands fire, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in just about half an hour.
But Gregory Evans, 56, was found burned under a mattress in the fire and was taken to St. Barnabas hospital with stab wounds to the neck.
He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police told 1010 WINS.
Another person suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, officials said.
Leo Huggins, 48, was taken into police custody. Huggins has been charged with arson, burglary, and multiple counts of murder.
The building superintendent, Alberto Green, said the suspect was caught on video leaving the building as the fire started. The apartment was a haven for drug activity, the superintendent said.
But a resident in the building named Barbara said Evans was like family. She said he was very sweet and would help anyone.
