2 Held In Shooting That Wounded Girl, 3, In Yonkers
YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two people were in police custody Saturday morning in connection with a shooting that wounded a 3-year-old girl in Yonkers.
Cell phone video captured the chaos in busy Getty Square around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. A gunshot was fired as a wild group of teenagers roamed along Palisade Avenue.
"They were ages 15 to 19. All boys. Cars would pass by and they would jump over the cars. It was insane," Bianca Guerrero said. "And then the shooting happened. The dad picked her up immediately off the floor and ran with her."
The girl, who was walking with her father, was struck in the arm.
She was taken to the trauma unit at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with non-life threatening injuries, according to investigators.
A pair of suspects were being questioned by the police on Friday night.
"We aren't going to call them suspects right now but we do have two people of interest in custody," Yonkers Police Det. Lt. Joseph Monaco said.
No charges had been filed as of Saturday morning.
