2 Dead, 3 Critically Injured In Long Island Crash
NORTH MERRICK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Two people were killed, and three others were critically injured, in a crash early Sunday on Southern State Parkway on Long Island.
The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on the westbound Southern State Parkway at Exit 24, authorities said.
New York State Police said one car was involved in the crash, and was speeding. The driver lost control and crashed into trees off the road, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.

There were five people in the car. Some were trapped, while others were ejected and lost limbs.
Killed in the crash were Bryan Rivas, 20, and Blossom Castro, 22. Meanwhile, one of the survivors – driver Kervens Boudin, 30 – was charged with reckless driving.
Two people were dead at the scene, while the three critically injured survivors were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
The car got wedged in the trees not far from Betty Furman's backyard.
"This is a terrible strip here. There's always accidents, always. It's a shame, speeding. The speeding, and then the entrance to the Meadowbrook around here," she said.
Another neighbor said in the same spot about six months ago, someone else was killed in an accident.
