Feral Cats Found In Filthy West Babylon Home
WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Authorities found 17 feral cats living in filth inside a West Babylon home Tuesday.
A condemned sign now sits on the house on Mitchell Avenue, where two people were living in the home until recently.
The cats wreaked havoc on neighbors and even bit them. Chris Elton from the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter says that masks had to be worn because the odor was so bad.
"The conditions were terrible," Elton told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall,"there was a severe flea infestation, and [an] acute amount of feces and urine -- not in kitty litter boxes."
Elton says 11 of the cats had to be put down.
A man and woman who lived in the Long Island home have since moved out.
