12/8 CBS2 Monday Evening Weather Headlines
By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer
Good evening all,
We're currently seeing some light rain and show showers for those of you near the coast, which will continue through the evening. It is down right chilly out there, with temps around the freezing mark in the city. With the winds though, its feeling more like the 20s! Brrrr!
Temps will start to increase during the overnight hours, hitting the upper 30s by daybreak. The coastal storm we've been tracking arrives for tomorrow, which will be a washout. Expect a wet morning commute, with steady rain becoming heavy at times.
This will continue right into the afternoon. Winds will be strong tomorrow, 15-25 mph with 40+ mph gusts. For those on Long Island, winds will gust even higher, 50-60 mph. Since temps stay warmer closer to the coast, the snow will be confined to the northwest suburbs. A lot of rain is on the way for everyone else, so expect some roadway flooding around the region. Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches by the time this system moves out!
Some showers will linger into Wednesday and even early Thursday, with highs in the low 40s. It'll be quite unsettled over the next few days, so hang in there!
