11/24: CBS2 Monday Morning Weather Headlines
By Mark McIntyre Jr, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer
Good Monday morning everybody! Make sure you don the rain gear as you head out this morning...we'll have areas of moderate/heavy rain during the morning commute to work or school. It will also be quite warm and windy today as well. Winds could gust 35-40 mph in the NYC area, with a few higher gusts across eastern Long Island. Rain will taper to a few showers by lunchtime, and we'll hit a high in the upper 60s! Some spots may even break the 70 degree mark - not too shabby for November 24th! In fact, some records may be set in our area today. Some showers possible this evening as a cold front moves through.
Behind the front, temps will be 10-15 degrees cooler on Tuesday but still at or above normal. Tuesday is looking like the pick of the week - enjoy it if you can! Then we turn to Wednesday; plain and simple, it looks like a mess. A coastal storm will affect one of the busiest travel days of the year with rain, wind, and even snow. Still too early to say how much snow is possible, but looks like the best bet will be well northwest of the city - such as Sussex County, Sullivan County, Orange County, Ulster County...places like that.
It looks like aside from a few early morning snow showers, Turkey Day will be fine...just expect more clouds sticking around. Winds look to be OK for the balloons, but it will be a cold morning with parade temps in the mid/upper 30s.
Check back later for updates about the wacky weather this week!
