The Honda came speeding off the Cross Bronx Expressway on the White Plains Road exit just before the crash in front of a flower shop filled with Mother's Day customers, Schuck reported.
A witness told Schuck the driver, badly bleeding, staggered out of his car and tried to flee by hailing a cab around the corner. But a group of men chased after him.
"Me and four other guys and a security officer from the complex went and held him down until the cops arrived," Dennis, who works at Miguel's Flower Shop, told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck.
"Pretty much he was telling us get away from me, back up, don't get near me," Dennis said. "He was spitting blood at us. Last thing I heard him say was, 'I don't want to go back there. I don't want to go back there.'"
Six people were injured in the crash and taken to Jacobi Medical Center, 1010 WINS reported. One was in critical condition, four were in serious condition, and one suffered minor injuries.
