The family of Isaac Martinez, 32, was shocked by the DJ's sudden death, and asked the man who killed him to surrender.
"I hope they catch him or he turns himself in because he turned something small into something it didn't need to be," Michael Aguirru told CBS 2's Amy Dardashtian.
Martinez died in front of a Queens pizza shop, his friend was stabbed but survived.
Speculation that a livery cab driver stabbed the men could stem from the makeup of the suspect's car.
"It might have been a livery cab because it was a black Lincoln Town Car with tinted windows," Fernando Mateo, the former President of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers.
Cops said that the stabbing may have occurred after the driver refused to give a ride to the apparently visibly drunk victims. The driver allegedly pulled out a bat and hit one of the men in the head, the bat broke, and the driver is then suspected of pulling out a knife and stabbing both victims.
The extensive crime scene attracted a crowd at Roosevelt Avenue in Queens on Saturday, police tape sectioned off the area around Brother's Grocery where Martinez and his friend purchased beer moments before the altercation.
On Saturday afternoon, the group Hispanics Across America offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
"We need to find out what happened. Taking the life of a young 26 year old man is wrong. We will offer a reward of $5,000 to anyone that can give us information on this case," Fernando Mateo, president of the group, said in a news release.
