Bus Hits Wall At Port Authority Terminal; Commuter Traffic Halted
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A bus slammed into a wall inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal late Tuesday afternoon, leaving one person hospitalized and shutting down bus traffic for nearly two hours.
The Short Line Bus struck the wall of the Eighth Avenue turnaround inside the terminal around 5:30 p.m., Port Authority of New York and New Jersey officials told WCBS 880.
For two hours afterward, no buses could get in or out, and commuters were stranded.
Four people reported non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. One person was rushed to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, while others refused further medical attention, officials said.

NJ TRANSIT urged all of its Port Authority Bus Terminal customers to use NJ TRANSIT rail or PATH trains during the shutdown. NJ TRANSIT bus passes were being cross-honored with NJ TRANSIT rail passes.
In a statement, Short Line assistant director of corporate affairs Sean Hughes said the bus company was "cooperating fully with authorities with their investigation."
