1 Dead, 2 Wounded In Shooting At Newark Convenience Store
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting at a Newark convenience store.
Officers were called to the Super Variety Corner Store on Bergen Street just before 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Once the officers arrived, they found two men in the store suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, officials said.
Nyshay Simmons, 21 of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene; the other man was taken to University Hospital in critical condition, officials said.
A third victim, who was also shot during the incident, had apparently left the scene before officers arrived and went on his own to Beth Israel Hospital, where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury, officials said.
