Firefighters battle 5-alarm fire in Brooklyn, at least 14 injured

NEW YORK -- Firefighters say a five-alarm fire in Brooklyn is under control. 

The fire was first reported at around 5:40 a.m. Friday and grew to a five-alarm blaze just after 7 a.m.

It happened at a building on Union Avenue at the corner of Meeker Avenue, adjacent to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. 

A least fourteen people, including 11 firefighters, are hurt. Seven firefighters were hospitalized and the rest, including civilians, were treated at the scene. Three civilians and four firefighters suffered minor injuries. 

Nearly 200 firefighters were called to the scene and had it under control within two hours. 

There's no word yet on what started the fire.
