Yul Kwon Wins 'Survivor'
It's time to crown a new winner of "Survivor." And I have a feeling this finale is going to be filled with surprises, great challenges, and angry jury questions, at least that's what I hope. Let's get to it.
Yul, Becky, Sundra, Adam and Ozzy are left to battle it out for the million. Before the finale starts we get a season recap for all of those who missed some episodes or forgot some things that happened.
Now on with the show!!
It's day 37 for the Aitutonga tribe and Adam is left all alone to try and find some way to keep himself in this game but the odds are stacked against him. He needs to win immunity or I think he is out. The underdog Aitu four have defied odds to get this far but now it's time to start thinking past the final four and thinking of the win. Ozzy is the biggest threat to the rest of his alliance of Yul, Becky, and Sundra so he needs to win immunity as much as Adam.
Immunity challenge time this one looks familiar to the one I did in the Amazon when we had five people left. It's a spider web ropes course, there are eight different stations then need to collect and in the bags are puzzle pieces. The puzzle pieces when done correctly will raise a flag. Jeff also notes that this is the most difficult puzzle they have EVER had. Good luck to them, they need it. Ozzy, Yul, and Adam both tear through the obstacle course but this puzzle looks so hard I can't believe it. Ozzy wins AGAIN but Adam was right on his heels. This kid cannot be stopped.
Back at camp Adam is trying to toss around the idea to Ozzy and Sundra to force the idol out from Yul. I am pretty sure that's not going to happen because no one is going to risk it being so close to the end. At least Adam is putting up a fight but he is toast.
Tribal council time! Everyone candidly talks about how Adam is toast tonight including Adam. Jeff then presses the issue about how after Adam is gone now they have to attack each other. Becky comes out and says she has relied on Ozzy winning everything for them to secure the safety of the group. Adam slams Sundra and Becky by saying they are "boring" and do much around camp. He does a really good job of making everyone in Aitu really weary of the idol and each other, a good way to go out. In no big surprise, Adam is voted out and becomes a member of the jury. And Aitu, the underdogs, have made the final four. Now it's time to watch them take out each other, I can't wait!
Now it's time for the eternally cheesy fallen comrades to go back and reflect on all the past contestants. I think this part was sweet and heartwarming when I was playing and had to do it but I can't help but laugh every time I watch it on TV, it's not like the contestants are dead, they have just been voted off … waaaaay to serious for me, nuff said ... Moving on.
It's time for the final immunity challenge and it's an endurance challenge. The survivors must stand on a small perch (sounds familiar) but every 15 minutes a section of the perch will be removed making it smaller and the last section of the perch will only be the size of a postcard. Tough stuff, Jeff also informs them that there will be a final three this year NOT a final two like all past seasons. I have a feeling this will last quite a while. Yul is the only one squatting on his perch in stead of standing. Becky is the first one to fall off, followed by Yul when he tried to stand up from his squat. Sundra and Ozzy have been battling it out for two and half hours and Sundra finally loses her balance and Ozzy wins again, he is guaranteed a spot in the final tribal council.
Yul offers to give Becky the immunity idol and it seems like it's going to be a tie so no one feels bad voting anyone off. If I were Becky I would definitely take the idol from Yul, you are there to win and this guarantees you a chance take it!
Tribal council time again. It's a tie between Sundra and Becky no real surprises there it was announced at tribal council by Yul and Ozzy that was their plan. Becky does not have the idol so we go to the good old fashioned fire making challenge, let's hope this doesn't break a tie in the final vote for the million of I will stick a fork in my eye. One hour goes by and no one has fire yet, maybe they gave them bad flint, and the jury is about to fall asleep. Jeff even gets so annoyed he stops them and gives them matches! MATCHES? Come on, this is "Survivor." Even with matches these ladies are having serious problems with fire, how did they survive so long, oh wait they had Yul and Ozzy, I forgot! Sundra runs out of matches and Becky takes it home and wins the tie breaker! I wonder what would have happened if they both ran out of matches … gasoline?
And just a question: do these people ever stop eating coconuts? That's all I see them do every time they are on camera.
A boat comes in with a woman bearing food, FOOD the last thing these people need is more food. BOO!
Final tribal council time, this will decide who will be the sole survivor. I personally hope it's brutal. And I just have to mention that Sundra looks AMAZING on the jury, work it girl.
Each of them makes an opening statement that's boring, now onto the jury questions.
Nate:
He gives "props" to making it this far. He wants to know how Ozzy outplayed Yul in strategy. Ozzy says he threw the Billy challenge, he was controlling things on his original tribe. He asks Becky why she deserves the million. She answers that she took part in a lot of the decision making that Yul made. Nate isn't satisfied with her answer and she is unable to answer the question in my opinion. Becky has no chance of winning in my eyes.
Jenny:
She asks Yul what is more important, to win the physical element or strategy element. He says strategy is more important.
Parvati:
She asks Becky to convince her she should win. She says she didn't take the idol from Yul because she wanted to earn her spot.
Rebecca:
She asks Yul and Ozzy (she says she is torn between the two) to tell her something she doesn't know to help her pick them. Yul said it's because he wanted to represent a minority (LAME.) Ozzy also says he wants to change the stereotypes of his race (LAME again.)
Adam:
He says they have been so boring so far and asks Ozzy to talk smack on Yul and Becky and why they shouldn't win. Ozzy says Yul didn't try as hard as he could and Becky rode Yul's coattails.
Candice:
She asks Yul him a yes or no question and it is that she thinks he has been shamelessly working the jury and if that is true. He answers yes.
Brad:
He asks Ozzy what has been the most challenging experience in his life and how did he overcome it. He says it's the relationship that he has had with his absent father (nice job, the sob story will win votes) and he begins to cry!
Sundra:
Asks what is one thing they discovered about themselves. Ozzy says that he learned to love unconditionally. Becky says she has learned to loosen up a bit. Yul says he found some self confidence (he was lacking that?)
Last, but not least, Jonathan:
He asks Yul to explain how telling half truths is true to him saying his played with integrity. He says that he was playing a game, blah blah blah. He then asks Ozzy why he has had an arrogant attitude and has felt that he was entitled to win and how the money will make him world a better place. Ozzy said that he would use the money to go back to school, and then he wants to change the world and be a role model (is this the same guy that has done soft core pornography for Playboy TV?), blah blah blah again.
Time to vote and then announce the winner, yeah! Time to move on to the live show.
Time to read the votes for the last time. Looks like everyone has fattened up a bit. The winner of "Survivor: Cook Islands" is after a ping pong voting of Yul and Ozzy getting 4 votes each, the winner is YUL. Congrats to Yul and being the first Asian American to win "Survivor." Well played both of them.
Now it's time for the live reunion show. Becky talks about how embarrassing it was not being able to start fire and she denies any rumors about a romantic relationship with Yul. Ozzy talks about how this game was made for him and he loved every minute of it. He talks about his father (not his biological father he mentioned during the final jury) that raised him is in the audience and he gets a little emotional, I love this guy. Jenny says she wish she would of spoke up at the tribal council where she got booted and maybe of been able to convince them to stay. Sekou sits in with the band and plays an original song he wrote for "Survivor!" He is excellent, I love him. Adam and Candice make it clear that they are just friends, no love connection outside the show. JP fills us in that he will be appearing on the "Janice Dickinson Project," from one reality show to another.
Now it's time to reveal who won the car. It came down between Yul and Ozzy. Ozzy wins the car! YEAH, Ozzy.
"Survivor" is going to be back next season in Fiji ...
Thanks for watching everyone.
