Winona Ryder confirms a "Beetlejuice" sequel is in the works
Director Tim Burton has already said that a "Beetlejuice" sequel is close to happening, and now "Beetlejuice" star Winona Ryder has echoed those same sentiments.
During a visit to "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on Monday, the 43-year-old actress confirmed something is cooking in the "Beetlejuice" world.
"I think I can confirm it because Tim Burton did this interview ... It was very hush-hush, top secret ... I really don't know much more about it than anyone else," she said.
Ryder portrayed goth girl Lydia in the original 1988 film, which also starred Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis. And it sounds like Lydia may be back in the reported reboot.
Buzz about a "Beetlejuice" follow-up has been heating up over the past couple of years. In October 2013, it was revealed that Burton had entered negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct "Beetlejuice 2." Then last December, the "Beetlejuice" director spoke about a possible sequel with IGN while promoting his movie "Big Eyes," starring Amy Adams.
