Wing eating champion William 'El Wingador' Simmons arrested on drug charges
(CBS/KYW) BUENA VISTA, N.J. - A New Jersey man who's earned the moniker "El Wingador" for winning multiple chicken wing eating titles has been arrested on drug charges.
Police say William "El Wingador" Simmons was taken into custody last Friday in Harrison Township after he was pulled over by New Jersey state troopers, who found approximately $8,000 worth of powdered cocaine and more than $4,000 in cash in the vehicle, CBSPhilly reports.
Simmons was reportedly charged with first-degree distribution of drugs and is being held at the Gloucester County jail on $100,000 bail.
"It is regrettable that Mr. Simmons' notoriety has taken a negative turn. However, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office works closely with other law enforcement agencies to stop the significant distribution of controlled dangerous substances that is reflected in the charges against him," prosecutor Sean F. Dalton said, according to CBSPhilly.
Simmons is locally famous for winning five annual "Wing Bowl" titles in Philadelphia, so he's obviously got the wing thing down.
Now he could use a prayer.
