Will Dems give Santorum a Super Tuesday boost?
Mitt Romney is hoping he'll be a step closer to the Republican presidential nomination after Super Tuesday, but if some Democratic voters have their way, that won't be the case.
In last week's Michigan primary, about 9 percent of voters were Democrats, and more than half voted for Rick Santorum. At least some of those Democrats, like Lisa Viviano of Battle Creek, Michigan, were a part of an initiative called "Operation Hilarity," a campaign started by the liberal blog DailyKos.com to keep Santorum's campaign alive as long as possible in order to drag out the primary and make Republicans look bad.
Even though Santorum lost in Michigan, Viviano told Hotsheet Live that she thinks "Operation Hilarity" was a success there. Now some Democrats are aiming to replicate it in other states with open primaries on Super Tuesday -- namely, Tennessee, Vermont and North Dakota.
Sean Beyer of Oak Ridge, Tennessee told Hotsheet Live that he doesn't think that any Democrats would sincerely back Santorum. And if the plan backfires, resulting in a Santorum presidency? "No way" that happens, Beyer said.
