Why Seth MacFarlane isn't hosting the Oscars again
Seth MacFarlane confirmed on his Twitter page that he will definitely not be back to host next year's Oscars due to scheduling, and also suggested an alternate host.
"Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again," MacFarlane writes. "Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep."
Though he praised his producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, both of whom have signed on to produce next year's telecast.
"However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business," wrote the 39-year-old comedian.
For those who have been following MacFarlane, this is not new news.Earlier this year, he said there was "no way" he would host again, although some had been hoping that he would change his mind. One reason the "Family Guy" creator may be too busy, is because he has a new show on the fall lineup for Fox, entitled "Dads."
That's not to say that he doesn't have an idea of who should host next year -- if we wanted the solemnest, most depressing awards show ever that is:
"My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix," he tweeted.
And that's why he should host again.
