Who's Leading in Race to Oscars?

With movie awards season now in full swing, the Iraq war film "The Hurt Locker" is an early frontrunner, according to an award-tracking survey by The Associated Press.

But honors from critics and nominations for Golden Globes and other awards have been spread around to a number of other movies as well. Jason Reitman's uber-relevant "Up in the Air," in particular, continues to win across multiple categories. There is also a great deal of buzz among Academy watchers for Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds."

And then there's James Cameron's spectacle "Avatar," another major heavyweight, particularly at the box office.

Tuesday's release of nominations for the Producers Guild Awards included not only "Avatar" but also "Star Trek" and "District 9" - an unusually strong showing for science fiction in awards season.
