Whoopi Goldberg to produce and possibly star in racial drama for Bravo
Whoopi Goldberg has a new TV project on her hands, and it’s taking her to Harlem.
The “View” co-host has inked a deal with Bravo to produce an untitled drama for the cable network, and she’s also considering taking on a starring role, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Goldberg will serve as executive producer via her company, One Ho Productions.
The modern-day series will center on a female Harlem crime boss reunited with her eldest son -- long assumed to be dead -- who returns to New York for a mayoral run. The son faked his own death as a teen and ran away, utilizing his ability to pass for white to start a new life.
Goldberg is reportedly eyeing the role of the female crime boss, though she hasn’t signed on for an on-camera position yet. Her contract with “The View” is up at the end of the current season.
