Where does Donald Trump stand on the issues?
NEW YORK --The controversial Republican debate didn't dent Donald Trump. A new Reuters poll shows Trump holding his lead at 24 percent. But on the issues, Trump has been short on specifics.
On no issue has Donald Trump been more outspoken than immigration. He called for building a wall along the entire U.S.-Mexico border and said on CNN he would deport all illegal immigrants.
"I want to move them out and we're gonna move them back in and let them be legal but they have to be here legally," said Trump.
But in 2012, Trump faulted GOP nominee Mitt Romney's anti-immigrant rhetoric, saying Romney's "... crazy policy of self-deportation ... was maniacal" and cost him the Latino vote.
Trump backed comprehensive immigration reform for "people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country."
What about the fight against ISIS? Trump has said little beyond the need to win, but on Monday advocated sending U.S. ground forces to liberate oil fields under the terror group's control.
"I would put boots on the ground in those areas," said Trump on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "I would take the oil because what you're doing is you're cutting off a big portion of their money source. I would knock the hell out of them."
Despite his controversial remarks about FOX News moderator Megyn Kelly, Trump told "Face the Nation" he would be a champion for women's issues.
"I will be phenomenal for the women," said Trump.
Trump criticized former Florida Governor Jeb Bush for saying and then recanting that the federal government should cut funds for women's health.
"I just heard that Jeb Bush last week blow 53 percent of his vote," said Trump. "Talking about, you know, women's health issues like they don't exist and I'm exactly the opposite."
Trump has not described any specific policies related to women's issues. It was sixteen years ago that Trump said in an interview he was "very pro-choice," but just this year he said "I'm pro-life and have been pro-life."
