What would Apple include in an iPad Mini?
Looks like those Apple iPad Mini rumors aren't going anywhere. More fuel was added to the flame with a recent report by Fortune that invitations for an event will go out to the press on Oct. 10.
According to Fortune, a "major Apple investor" reports that Apple will hold a press event on Oct. 17.
The Japanese blog Macotakara also reported that production on the iPad Mini has already started at Foxconn in Brazil. The blog has also uploaded a video on YouTube of an alleged mock-up of the iPad Mini.
Now that rumors of an announcement date have surfaced, speculation over what Apple will include in a smaller version of the iPad are making rounds.
So what would the iPad Mini feature?
Several sources speculate that the look and feel of an iPad Mini will be just like an iPad, but smaller. Most journalists and analyst believe the iPad Mini will have a 7.85-inch display, LTE support, front and rear camera, iOS6 and a retail price between $249 and $299.
In March, DigiTimesreported that "makers" in Apple's supply chain has started "delivering samples of a 7.85-inch iPads for verification." Citing an unnamed Samsung official, the Korea Times also reported that an iPad with a 7.85-inch screen will be released before the end of the year.
In April, the Chinese blog NetEase reported that Apple placed an order for an iPad mini. The smaller tablet is estimated to retail anywhere from $249 to $299.
AllThingsD reported in August that an iPad mini will be announced in October and not with the iPhone 5, which was announced on Sept. 12. CultofMac also said that the smaller iPad will likely be just like the current 9.7-inch iPad but scaled down to 7.85 inches. But the blog posits that the iPad Mini will not have Retina Display.
