Watch: NASCAR crew chief pulls driver's hair

(CBS/AP) Here's what happened: Person A got mad at Person B because Person B bumped Person C. So Person A pulled Person B's hair.

No, this drama did not unfold in a kindergarten class. It actually involved grown men following Saturday's race at the Nationwide Series race in Montreal.

Person A would be NASCAR crew chief Jerry Baxter, who reached into Steve Wallace's car and yanked his hair after the race. (Baxter was ticked off because Wallace inadvertently bumped Patrick Carpentier's car, ending his race).

On Monday, Baxter apologized saying "I was just very frustrated and let my emotions get to me... There's no excuse for what I did after the race and I apologize to everyone."

Baxter was apparently extra emotional because Carpentier had announced before the race that he was retiring after the event.

Wallace seemed unfazed right after the incident but did tell ESPN: "Only girls pull hair."

That's not true, at least in the world of NASCAR. In 2008, Danica Patrick and Milko Duno exchanged heated words at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

But there was no hair-tugging - just some good old fashioned towel snapping and F-bomb dropping.
