Watch: Maya Rudolph does Rachel Dolezal impression
Maya Rudolph took up requests for an impersonation: Rachel Dolezal.
Rudolph nailed the humor of Dolezel's clueless reaction during an impromptu interview by a reporter, during her visit to "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on Tuesday. The 42-year-old said she's been asked to impersonate the embattled NAACP leader a few times now, and apparently had a big curly wig on hand just in case.
Rudolph tossed on the curly wig -- and made her best attempt to recreate the ABC affiliate interview where Dolezal, who stepped down as president of the NAACP Spokane chapter, avoided answering questions about her ethnic background.
It doesn't hurt to take up requests, Rudolph pointed out, since Tina Fey's impression of Sarah Palin made career history.
"I remember Tina [Fey] saying when Sarah Palin was happening, everyone kept saying, her doorman's like, 'You gotta be Sarah Palin!' But it happens to me every day, people are like, 'Oh, it's too bad, you haven't been on 'SNL' since 2007," she said. "You have to play this lady.'"
Rudolph has done some spot-on parodies of on "Saturday Night Live" of Beyonce and Donatella Versace in the past.
