Watch: Latvian player sinks amazing behind-the-back 3-pointer

(CBS News) Meet Latvian basketball player Armands Skele. According to his Wikipedia page, he debuted as a pro at age 16, was twice sidelined with meningitis and is "cconsidered one of the great talents of his generation in Europe."

That's high praise for a guy who was out of basketball for two full seasons with health issues. But after the shot he made in a recent Estonian League playoff game, maybe the 28-year-old is finally living up to expectations. Watch as Skele manages to save a wild pass, scoop it behind his back and blindly heave it toward the basket while he goes flying out of bounds. Swish.

The miracle shot propelled his team, which had been trailing by six points with three minutes left, to a 92-84 victory.

The miracle heave is reminiscent of a 2007 shot made by Oklahoma State's Byron Eaton (below). Eaton's desperation swish helped the Cowboys beat Kevin Durant and the Texas Longhorns in a classic triple-OT game.

Eaton's 2007 shot was nothing short of amazing but Skele's 3-pointer wins for behind-the-back style points - and it clearly swung the momentum of the game at a critical moment.
