Watch: Goalkeeper Tim Howard scores 100-yard goal, barely reacts
Even after an incredible goal, sometimes empathy prevails over enthusiasm.
Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard managed to score from roughly 100 yards away when his kick from inside his own penalty area bounced about 30 yards from the goal and sailed over Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan's head - with an obvious assist from the wind.
But it's hard to say what is more remarkable - the goal or Howard's nonchalant reaction.
In 20 years of Premier League matches, only three other goalkeepers have ever tallied a score. So it would be hard to blame Howard, who is the U.S. national team goalkeeper, for celebrating after his stunning goal. But his enthusiasm level was muted because he has been on the other end before.
"It's not a nice feeling for a keeper. It's really awful actually," Howard told Sky Sports.
The gracious goalkeeper, who was playing his 250th Premier League match, even spoke with his counterpart after the match.
"I let him know that I was feeling for him," Howard said. "It's not a nice place to be. I've been there before, a long, long time ago, and that was why I didn't celebrate."
Nor did his team after the game was over. Despite the dramatic goal, Everton lost to Bolton 2-1.
