Watch: Driver's-eye camera of a Formula 1 car

(CBS) - Buckle up and take a ride in the cockpit of a Formula 1 speed machine. This video represents a leap forward in in-car camera technology. This isn't a dashboard cam or a helmet cam; this is what an F1 driver actually sees on the track. Strap yourself in, hit play, and don't forget to lean into the turns.

Lucas di Grassi is the man behind the wheel of Pirelli's tire-tester Toyota F1 car. The track is Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya. The view is excellent. But don't try this at home. As di Grassi points out, "I had to drive with only one eye open as the camera was blocking my other eye, quite tricky."
