Waka Flocka Flame (MUGSHOT): Rapper Faces Court Hearing On Drug, Weapons Charges
McDONOUGH, Ga. (CBS/AP) Rapper Waka Flocka Flame faces a court hearing after surrendering to Atlanta area police on drug and gun charges.
Henry County jail records show that the rapper, whose real name is Juaquin James Malphurs, has a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday after he surrendered to authorities Monday.
The rapper's mother told celebrity gossip site TMZ that he turned himself in because "he wanted to do the right thing and didn't want to run."
Police went to the rapper's home on Dec. 16, according to TMZ, and after confiscating a number of illegal items, issued an arrest warrant for him.
Waka Flocka Flame faces charges of possessing marijuana and a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possessing a firearm during a crime. The rapper also is charged with breaking the state's anti-gang laws and violating probation for driving on a suspended license.
He was on probation for a charge of possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
The rapper's bond was listed at more than $31,000.
